The journey to becoming a Malaysian Licensed Pharmacist starts with the Bachelor of Pharmacy programme at KPJ Healthcare University, Nilai. We offer a distinctive combination of healthcare and industrial oriented degree focusing on pharmaceutical, clinical, industrial, marketing and management aspects to overcome future challenges in the healthcare system. Our students are trained to acquire clinical competence in order to provide efficient pharmaceutical care to patients alongside research competence in sophisticated laboratory equipped with industry level analytical as well as manufacturing equipment and instruments to give authentic experience and create innovative mindset. Our students are given vast opportunities to develop high employability skills and hands-on practical through various exposure by our line of pharmacists from KPJ Group’s Specialist Hospitals. Financing your Study
KPJ offers Scholarship for Bachelor of Pharmacy in the form of Biasiswa by Merit that reflects our commitment in grooming future Pharmacists. With the combination of PTPTN and our Scholarship, students may need to pay very little tuition – as low as RM6,000* for the whole programme. In addition, we provide free hostel accommodation for all Bachelor students during their 1st year study on campus in Nilai.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT
Malaysian Students:
STPM
- CGPA 3 and above includes at least B in Chemistry subject
- Applicants who are Malaysian citizens must pass Bahasa Malaysia and English with at least grade C in SPM or equivalent.
- Must pass a minimum of band 3 in MUET before students graduate.
A-LEVEL
- 3B or I C or 1A1B1C in Biology and Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics with atleast B in the Chemistry subject.
(with reference to the Universities and Colleges Admission Service (UCAS) score system which was implemented in the United Kingdom for A-Level which is the decision by the Ordinance of the score A + = 140, A = 120, B = 100 and C = 80)
****Requirement of 3B suggested by the LFM is equal to score 300 with B in Chemistry Subject. - Applicants who are Malaysian citizens must pass Bahasa Malaysia and English with at least grade C in SPM or equivalent
- Must pass a minimum of band 3 in MUET before students graduate.
MATRICULATION / PRA PENGAJIAN PERUBATAN DAN FARMASI OR FOUNDATION IN SCIENCE
- Matriculation or Pre-Medical Pharmacy / Medicine with a GPA of 3.0 and above at least B in Chemistry OR
- Foundation in science with a CGPA of 3.0 and above with a minimum B in Chemistry AND
- The program must be conducted for a period of at least one (1) year
- Applicants who are Malaysian citizens must pass Bahasa Malaysia and English with at least grade C in SPM or equivalent.
- Must pass a minimum of band 3 in MUET before students graduate OR
- Have the following English language qualifications:
a) Score 550 for TEOFL OR
b)Band 6.0 for IELTS with minimum of band 5.5 for every skill – Writing, Reading, Listening / Speaking (WRLS)*** If non -compliance with English language requirements (a) and (b), Band 3 MUET is applicable.
- Passed SPM with at least 5B in Biology and Chemistry and Physics and Mathematics / Additional Mathematics and 1 other subject at School Certificate Level or equivalent.
DIPLOMA
- Diploma in Science (Chemistry or Biology or Physics) CGPA 3.75 and above including B in Chemistry or Diploma in Pharmacy CGPA 3.5 and above.
- Applicants who are Malaysian citizens must pass Bahasa Malaysia and English with at least grade C in SPM or equivalent
- Must pass a minimum of band 3 in MUET before students graduate
- Passed SPM with at least 5B in Biology and Chemistry and Physics and Mathematics / Additional Mathematics and 1 other subject at School Certificate Level or equivalent.
First Degree in Science
- First Degree in Science CGPA 2.75 and above (CGPA 2.75 = Grade C+)
- International qualifications will be assessed and referred by Malaysia Pharmacy Board or Malaysian Qualification Agency for approval on case to case basis.
- The applicants should Pass IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 550 before admission.
PROGRAMME DETAILS
This module describe the basic principle of chemistry. Topics covered in lecture include atomic structure, states of matter, stoichiometry and various types of chemical reaction.
Topics covered in lectures provides basic knowledge and in depth understanding, in relation to the structure of the human body and the function of various organs. It also provides a foundation for students to learn subjects such as Pathophysiology Pharmacology. Knowledge regarding how the body functions is essential to understand procedures and drug action.
This module provides the students a knowledge that will enable them to appreciate their role as a Pharmacist in the national healthcare system. This subject will introduce services provided by the pharmacy related to the aspects of organisation, history, development, function, evolution, services and care. It also explains the organisation and management of the hospital pharmacy as well as the duties and responsibilities of a pharmacist.
This module describes about the structure , characteristics ,pathogenesis of microorganism that cause human infections and its treatment and prevention and the methods involved in isolation and identification of microorganisms and also includes physical and chemical methods to control microorganism.
The module covers the topics such as introduction to dosage forms & its properties including pharmaceutical calculations and understanding of theoretical background of dispensing monophasic and biphasic dosage forms and radiopharmaceuticals. The students are trained for mock dispensing. Practicals include dispensing of monophasic and biphasic dosage forms.
This tertiary level English course prepares students with the appropriate methods of literature search through analysis of research materials (validity of content) for researching purposes and developing proposal. The students are also learning the proper structure of composing argumentative essay, as well as the correct languages in delivering arguments. For the purposes of writing skills for report, the students also learn the process of writing and report writing. Other than that, the students also gain the knowledge and skills of thinking critically to produce Critical Review and Proposal. Preparing referencing from various sources of relevant information is also learnt in this course for research purposes
This module covers on entry level organic chemistry. Topics covered in lectures include basic principles of organic chemistry, nomenclature of organic compounds, Stereochemistry, nucleophilic aliphatic substitution reactions and elimination reactions, nucleophilic addition reactions, electrophilic addition reactions and free radical reactions.
Topics covered in the module enable the students to understand the theoretical and practical aspects on formulation, packaging, labeling and administration of various solid and semisolid preparations and biological products
General pharmacology course typically covers principles and mechanisms of drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and effects. Specific topics include: actions, effects and indications for the drug classes: autacoids histamine, serotonin and ergot alkaloids and immuno suppressant agents.
This modules covers the topics such as the structure and function of basic classes of biological molecules, catabolism and biosynthesis of macromolecules. Emphasis is on the integration and regulation of the metabolic pathways of biomolecules. The practical are focussed on estimation of biological parameters in normal and pathological samples
This module includes the physico-chemical properties of drug molecules such as pH, solubility, interfacial phenomena, diffusion and dissolution, rheology, micromeritics and study of disperse systems.
Kursus ini membincangkan ilmu ketamadunan yang meliputi pengenalan ilmu ketamadunan, perkembangan dan interaksi ketamadunan dalam Tamadun Islam, Melayu, CIna, India serta isu ketamadunan kontemporari dalam Tamadun Islam dan Tamadun Asia. Kursus ini bertujuan memberi kefahaman mengenai setiap elemen tersebut dan implikasinya terhadap proses pembangunan negara. Selain itu, perbincangan dan perbahasan dalam kursus ini turut berperanan dalam usaha melahirkan pelajar yang mengetahui warisan sejarah negara, memupuk nilai murni, mempunyai jati diri kebangsaan dan menghargai kepelbagaian.
This module covers the topics such as cell injury and causes, pathogenesis of cell injury, atrophy and hypertrophy, Inflammation, mediators and repair, Pathophysiology of various infectious and non infectious diseases as well as common disorders to human body.
This module provides basic knowledge in organic chemistry as applicable in pharmacy. Topics covered in the module include theory of resonance, electrophilic aromatic substitution reactions, heterocyclic chemistry, polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, medicinally important heteroaromatic compounds, carboxylic acids, amines and phenols
This module will introduce the students to understand the basic concepts of psychology and the demands of the population at various stages of their life. It will make the students to enhance their communication skills with allied professionals. It will also help the learners to understand the abnormal psychology and future challenges to health care professionals in psychology of health and illness.
This module on Nervous system and pharmacotherapy I is a concise introduction to drugs that affect the function of the autonomic nervous system. Drugs that affect the neuromuscular junction are discussed. Adrenergic and cholinergic agonists and antagonists, and cholinesterase inhibitors, are emphasized. Drug-receptor interactions, subsequent physiological effects, and uses of drugs in therapy, are discussed.
This module provides the basic knowledge on cultivation, collection and processing of medicinal plants. Moreover, a representative drugs from different morphological sources will be discussed in detail, involving the description of their macro- and microscopical characteristics. The geographical distribution, cultivation, collection, chemical constituents and their uses will be emphasized, which will be made even clearer when students go for field work to appreciate medicinal plants in their natural environment. In addition, the course covers the study of fibres used in surgical dressings and products used in filtration.
This module covers fundamental principles and techniques used in recombinant DNA technology and their application in pharmacy and the pharmaceutical industry and also includes production process of antibiotics, enzymes, vitamins , hormones, recombinant vaccines using biotechnology techniques.
Kursus ini membincangkan konsep asas, latar belakang dan realiti sosial masa kini hubungan etnik di Malaysia dari perspektif kesepaduan sosial. Tujuan kursus ini ialah memberikan kesedaran dan penghayatan dalam mengurus kepelbagaian ke arah pengukuhan negara bangsa.Pengajaran dan pembelajaran akan dilaksanakan dalam bentuk pembelajaran berasaskan pengalaman melalui aktiviti individu, berpasukan dan semangat kesukarelaan. The topics covered in this module include basic principles, construction and working of instruments and equipment required for various pharmaceutical processes such as size reduction, extraction, drying, distillation, mixing, filtration, etc.
This module explains the various quantitative and quality procedures carried out in analysing of pharmaceutical products. It will enable the learner to understand the basic principles and procedures of various quantitative and quality techniques including volumetric, spectroscopy, chromatography and electrophoresis.
The module covers the understanding of underlying cellular mechanisms and management of cardiovascular diseases. The subtopics are Antihypertensives; vasoactive, antianginals; cardiac glycosides and other cardiotonics; antiarrhythmics; anti-anemic agents, anticoagulant, antiplatelet and fibrinolytic drugs; and drugs for dyslipidemias.
In this module students will be provided with theoretical and practical introduction to information technology. The unit consists of: fundamental principles of computer operation, the main hardware components of the computer, data storage and retrieval. It provides introduction to system software, introduction to data communications, hardware selection and evaluation; Development of spreadsheets, word processing, data packages, the World Wide Web, applied IT modules.
This course introduces students to hospital pharmacy services. The students will be exposed to drug distribution systems, inventory management, and drug formulary and drug utilization review (DUR). Services such as parenteral nutrition, IV admixture, and cytotoxic drug reconstitution are also included. Apart from these, students are also exposed to management of acute drug toxicity and critical care therapy.

The main purpose of this course is to provide student of entrepreneurship a through introduction to the entrepreneurial process. Among others, this course covers topics such as decision to become an entrepreneur, developing successful business ideas, moving from an idea to an entrepreneurial firm and managing and growing and entrepreneurial firm
This module is designed to enable the student to master proficiency of the language at an intellectual level to communicate effectively, appreciate and develop thoughts regarding knowledge, personal and community matters in official contacts, creative and non creative thoughts through oral and written form. This topic also helps the student’s development of language for their higher education and career development.
Topics covered in this module include extraction, isolation and identification of secondary metabolites/ phytoconstituents and their chemistry, microscopic analysis, primary and secondary plant metabolic pathways and Plant tissue culture, various herbal formulations, standardization of crude drugs and herbal formulations.
This course introduces students to the concepts clinical pharmacy. The students will be exposed to various systematic approaches of patient therapy assessment; of drug-related problems. The concepts of counseling and social pharmacy are also introduced which includes the bedside teaching, and basics of pharmacovigilance
This module introduces the scale up techniques of various dosage forms and selection of appropriate excipients, packaging materials in their development. It also emphasis on the principles and importance of sterilization in the development of sterile dosage forms. Practicals include granulation, tablets compression, and coating of tablets, ampoule filling, and sterility test.
This course provides an outline of the major legislation governing medicinal products in Malaysia and provides students with a knowledge that will form the basis of their professional practice in their future careers
This course includes both quantitative and qualitative approaches to research. The focus is to introduce students to the core elements of the research process and in the development of competency in the critical appraisal and evaluation of Pharmaceutical Science research. Students will be taught concepts and techniques, different statistical methods, and determining whether a relationship between two or more numerical or quantitative variables exists and various types of graphical presentations, useful for researchers who will be doing research in Pharmacy

This module will provide you with the skills and knowledge to work at entry level in a community pharmacy. Typical functions within the community pharmacy include serving and interacting with customers, merchandising products and controlling stock, understanding the product range and the roles and responsibilities of pharmacists, communicating with customers to identify needs and provide appropriate product advice and/or referral.
In this module students will be introduced to the physico-chemical properties of drug molecules and their effect on biological system. The topics included in the module covers the concepts of SAR and QSAR of drugs and derivatives as applied in drug design and discovery..
This module is a concise introduction to drugs that affect the functions of the central nervous system. Narcotic analgesics, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, anticonvulsants, antidepressants, anti-Parkinson drugs, psychomotor stimulants, general anaesthetics and ethanol adds the essentials of this module.
This course introduces students to the concepts pharmaceutical care. The students will be exposed to responsibilities of a pharmacist in provision of pharmaceutical care including the documentation involved. Students will also be trained to handle medication errors, polypharmacy, adverse drug reactions and drug interactions.
This module describes the concepts of preformulation studies for various dosage forms. Application of biopharmaceutical principles in the development of conventional and novel drug delivery systems and stability studies of drugs and dosage forms
This module covers the community planning, method of running programs, implementation and evaluation of Community service activities. This course also aims to instil discipline among the students.
This module on Endocrine system and pharmacotherapy is designed to provide the students with an exposure to endocrine pharmacology, with a major emphasis on the feedback mechanisms within the endocrine system that are responsible for the maintenance of normal endocrine function as well as the interventions necessary to correct disorders stemming from hormonal imbalances. Emphasis is also placed on the hormone therapy in treating endocrine disorders and still maintaining essential hormonal and metabolic feedback relationships.
The module covers pharmacotherapeutics and its applications in pharmaceutical care for the diseases related to nervous system, gastrointestinal system, cardiovascular system, metabolic & endocrine system, respiratory system and diseases related to blood disorder. The module also includes pre-clinical attachment to enhance student understanding on pharmaceutical care.
This module introduces the student to the various aspects of clinical drug monitoring including the basic principles of evidence-based medicine, sources of literature, collection and arrangement of information about the drugs. It will also enable the students to understand the necessity of patient education and counseling to improve patient compliance and to improve the outcome of the therapy
This course introduces the students to the details both the quantitative and the qualitative research methods. Students are required to develop a research proposal in the form of a small research study into a health or pharmacy-related issue. The selection, development and implementation of each student project are carried out in consultation with a specified academic supervisor.
This module introduces students to the role and importance of therapeutic drug monitoring service and provides skills for students on pharmacokinetic evaluation of specified drugs such as vancomycin, cyclosporine, theophylline, methotrexate, chloramphenicol, anti-epileptic drugs, digoxin, salicylate and aminoglycoside along with an insight on compartment modelling. The course also emphasizes on the special considerations needed in pharmacokinetic evaluation of special patient populations such as renal impairment, dialysis and hepatic impairment
Gastrointestinal, renal and pulmonary system and pharmacotherapy is designed to provide the students with an exposure to pharmacology of drugs acting on gastrointestinal, renal and pulmonary systems. With special emphasize on diuretics, anti ulcer, ant diarrhoeal and other agents
The module covers pharmacotherapeutics and its applications in pharmaceutical care for the diseases related to psychiatric disorders, infectious diseases, obstetric and gynaecological diseases, dermatological diseases, rheumatic disorders, hepatic and renal diseases and neoplastic disorders. The module also includes pre-clinical attachment to enhance student understanding on pharmaceutical care.
The module introduces the students to the details both the quantitative and the qualitative research methods. Students are required to develop a research proposal in the form of a small research study into a health or pharmacy-related issue. The selection, development and implementation of each student project are carried out in consultation with a specified academic supervisor. The students are required to comprehensively review the literature, develop a research design and prepare a research proposal.
