The Advanced Diploma in Midwifery Nursing program has designed to provide theoretical and practical knowledge that will enhance the candidates in Obstetric & Gynaecology settings. Potential Registered Nurses with an interest in this field of midwifery will be provided with the opportunities to explore the midwife role in terms of providing high level care, nurses’ skills,  quality midwifery care, obstetric care and safe motherhood issues.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

Malaysian Students :

  • Possess diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution by MNB
  • Registered with MNB
  • Possess current annual Practicing Certificate (APC) for Nurses from MNB
  • ≥ 2 years clinical working experience
  • Female Nurse

Health Status

  1. All candidates MUST be certified medically fit by a registered medical practitioner with ONE MONTH from commencement of the nursing programme.
  2. A person with any of the following shall be disqualified from entry into nursing program.
  • Serious physical or mental illness, and / or
  • Serious communicable disease

      3. Candidate MUST not have any physical disabilities or impaired senses that hinder nursing dexterity

**Advanced Diploma Midwifery programme is permitted for the International candidates  and Female Nurses only.

**Not allowed to practice in Malasyia

**Allow to sit for the examination and registered with MNB.

International Students :

  • Possess Diploma in Nursing from a recognised instituition by MNB
  • Registered with the Nursing Council of the country of origin
  • Minimum 2 years clinicalworking experience
  • Pass IELTS with minimum score of 5.5 / TOEFL with minimum score of 515 / 215 / 80.

PROGRAMME DETAILS

This course offers students an introduction to the profession of midwifery, basis of legal, ethical and cultural issues in midwifery practice.It also reviews on how midwives can promote the health of women and childbearing families by understanding the structural and physiologic adaptation of reproductive system to pregnancy and childbearing.

This course offers students to the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours needed to provide high quality of care in meeting the physiological, psychological and developmental needs of a woman throughout pregnancy, labour and puerperium. Understanding the process involves throughout childbearing will enhance optimal care with the aim to maintain positive maternal and fetal outcomes.

 

This course offers students the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours needed to provide high quality of care in meeting the needs of a healthy and compromised newborn. Early detection of abnormalities and interventions will enhance optimal care with the aim to maintain positive outcomes.

This course offers students to practice and apply the knowledge of care in meeting the physiological, psychological and developmental needs of a woman throughout pregnancy, labour and puerperium, including the care of newborn. The student will have the exposure and experiences during practicum to enhance understanding and relate the knowledge learned

This course offers students the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours needed to provide high quality of care in meeting the needs of a woman with high risk pregnancy, labour and puerperium. Early recognizing of abnormalities and prompt interventions will promote patient safety and positive outcome.

This course offers students the opportunity for hands on the process of research at small survey.  Students are expected to perform the process of collecting the data through observation or interview or questionnaires.

This course offers students the knowledge, skills and professional behaviours needed to provide high quality of care in meeting the needs of a woman during an event of obstetric emergency including operative deliveries.  The understanding of the value of health surveillance and family planning approaches in well women health care will help in promoting patient safety and ensure positive outcome throughout lifespan

This course offers students to practice and apply knowledge  of care in meeting the physiological, psychological and developmental needs of a woman throughout high risk  pregnancy, labour and puerperium, including obstetric emergencies and well women health care approaches. The student will have the exposure and experiences during practicum to enhance understanding and relate the knowledge learned.
