Introduction to Midwifery (ADMN 1113)
This course is an introduction to the profession of midwifery and how
midwives can promote the health of women and childbearing families by
understanding the concept, factors and barriers to care. Recognizing
and understanding the basis of legal, ethical and cultural issues in
midwifery practice will promote quality patient care and patient
safety.
Foundation of Midwifery 1 (ADMN 1123)
This course introduce the fundamental of midwifery knowledge and how
midwives can promote the health of women and childbearing families by
understanding the structural and physiologic adaptation of
reproductive system and other system in relation to pregnancy and
childbearing, including conception and fetal development.
Foundation of Midwifery 2 (ADMN 1133)
This course introduce the fundamental of midwifery knowledge and how
midwives can promote the health of women and the newborn by
understanding the requirement of maternal nutrition in relation to
pregnancy and childbearing including newborn nutrition. Recognizing
and understanding the need of pharmacology approach in the
childbearing to promote maximum comfort and safety of the women and
newborn.
Normal Midwifery 1 (ADMN 1144)
This course introduce the professional nurses to the knowledge, skills
and professional behaviours needed to provide high quality of care in
meeting the physiological, psychological and developmental needs of a
woman throughout pregnancy and labour. Understanding the process
involves throughout childbearing will enhance optimal care with the
aim to maintain positive maternal and fetal outcomes.
Normal Midwifery 2 (ADMN 1153)
This course introduces the professional nurses to the knowledge,
skills and professional behaviours needed to provide high quality of
care in meeting the physiological, psychological and developmental
needs of a woman throughout puerperium including care of the newborn,
domiciliary nursing and contraceptive methods. Understanding the
process involves and the value of health surveillance and family
planning approaches will help in promoting patient safety and ensure
positive outcome throughout lifespan.
Nursing Practice 1 (ADMN 1164)
This course allow professional nurses to practice and apply knowledge
in-depth to provide high quality of care in meeting the physiological,
psychological and developmental needs of a woman throughout pregnancy,
labour and puerperium, and care of newborn with the aim to maintain
positive maternal and fetal outcomes. Exposure and experiences
gathered during practicum allow the professional nurses to understand
and relate the knowledge learned
High Risk Midwifery 1 (ADMN 1213)
This course introduce the professional nurses to the knowledge, skills
and professional behaviours needed to provide high quality of care in
meeting the needs of a woman with high-risk pregnancy. Early
recognizing of abnormalities and prompt interventions will promote
patient safety and positive outcome.
High Risk Midwifery 2 (ADMN 1224)
This course introduce the professional nurses to the knowledge, skills
and professional behaviours needed to provide high quality of care in
meeting the needs of a woman with high-risk labour and puerperium
including compromised newborn. Early recognizing of abnormalities and
prompt interventions will promote patient safety and positive outcome.
Obstetric Life Saving Skills (ADMN 1232)
This course introduce the professional nurses to the knowledge, skills
and professional behaviours needed to provide immediate response
Introduction To Research In Midwifery (ADMN 1243)
Nursing research has a tremendous influence on the current and future
professional nursing practice. Rendering it, is as essential component
of the educational process. With exposure and experience can students
begin to understand the concept and importance of research in
midwifery setting.
Nursing Practice 2 (ADMN 1258)
This course allows professional nurse to practice and apply knowledge
in-depth to provide high quality of care in meeting the physiological,
psychological and developmental needs of a woman throughout high-risk
pregnancy, labour and puerperium, obstetric emergencies and care of
compromised newborn with the aim to treat and maintain positive
maternal and fetal outcomes. Exposure and experiences gathered during
practicum allows the professional nurse to understand and relate the
knowledge learned.
