Fundamentals of Perioperative Nursing (PBPO 0112)
This course introduce the expected behaviour of perioperative
caregiver, role and responsibilities and the standardisation of
patient care involving ethical framework in solving common legal and
ethical issues in operating room. Holistic care approach, includes
collaborative patient care team in relation to patient with individual
needs will enhance quality care in perioperative practice.
Perioperative Care 1 (PBPO 0123)
This course introduce pre-operative preparation of patient,
anaesthesia and surgical pharmacology including role of Perioperative
Anaesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This course also allow perioperative
nurses to practice essential skills for positioning and draping by
understanding all the process involves to prevent potential
complications.
The Perioperative Environment (PBPO 0132)
This course introduce the care of perioperative environment including
physical facilities, aseptic and sterile technique and method of
sponges, swab and instrument count to enhance patient safety.
Recognizing and understanding various method of decontamination,
disinfection and sterilization also will promote quality patient care.
Clinical Practice 1 (PBPO 0143)
This course allow professional nurses to apply knowledge and skills
into perioperative practice in various roles in providing high quality
of patient care during pre-operative, intraoperative and postoperative
surgery. Effective communication skills in collaborating with
healthcare team members allows the professional nurses to understand
and relate the knowledge learned.
Perioperative Care 2 (PBPO 0212)
This course introduces type of surgical wound and mechanisms of wound
healing, various type of surgical incisions and implants including
management of surgical site in order to maintain haemostasis and
prevent surgical site infection. Understanding the care of surgical
instruments and equipment by using media and technology will enhanced
optimal understanding to the perioperative nurses in practicing
quality patient care and patient safety.
Perioperative Nursing Sciences (PBPO 0223)
This course introduce the perioperative nurses to surgical
specialities integrated with applied anatomy & physiology for selected
surgical procedures.
Interpersonal and Professional Development (PBPO 0232)
This course introduce perioperative nurses to personal and
professional development in career advancement. Recognising and
understanding the principles of leadership and management will allow
the professional nurses to enhance innovative and entrepreneurship
activities for quality improvement in perioperative setting.
Clinical Practice 2 (PBPO 0243)
This course allow professional nurses to apply knowledge and skills
into perioperative practice in various roles in providing high quality
of patient care during pre-operative, intraoperative and postoperative
surgery. By integrating range of information and technology
application, including statistic will allow the professional nurses to
understand and relate the knowledge learned.
