Programme Overview

Diploma in Nursing at KPJUC has produced thousands of Registered Nurses since 1991, all trained by KPJ Specialist Hospitals all over the country. The programme is accredited by both Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and Malaysian Nursing Board – Lembaga Jururawat Malaysia (LJM). The programme aims at achieving the right balance between theory and practice. Following that, our students learn approximately 30% in classrooms, 20% in our on-campus Skill Labs and 50% undergoing Clinical Training at our 28 hospitals. We are proud to have thousands of our Alumni of Diploma in Nursing working in public and private hospitals now as frontliners and the backbone of the healthcare industry. Being the Big Sister in Nursing education in the region, KPJUC offers the whole ecosystem of Nursing academic programmes from Diploma, Post-basic, Bachelor, Master up to PhD in Nursing – all accredited by MQA.

Career Opportunity

Upon successful completion of the 3-year Diploma in Nursing programme at KPJUC, students will be eligible to sit for national level examination by Lembaga Jururawat Malaysia (LJM). In our more than 30 years experience, all 100% of our students pass this examination. After passing the examination they will be awarded State Registered Nurse (SRN) status. Many of them are employed by KPJ Specialist Hospitals while others work at other private or public hospitals. Upon verification done by the respective country’s Nursing Board, candidates would be eligible to work abroad.

Scholarship for Nursing

For 2023, KPJ offers a lot of opportunities for Scholarship in the form of Biasiswa by Merit that reflects our commitment in grooming future professionals and leaders in the healthcare sector. With the combination of PTPTN and our Scholarship, many students may not need to pay or pay very little tuition. Please refer the following Table for an indication of how much you will actually need to pay or will receive for your study. This calculation is based on the condition that you, like almost all our present students, are approved and receive PTPTN to pay for your tuition and fee. We would help you to apply for PTPTN during your orientation week.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

Malaysian Students:

  • Pass SPM or equivalent (5 credits)
  • Pass in English
  • Credit in Bahasa Melayu
  • Credit in any Mathematics subject AND any Science subject
  • Credit in 2 other subjects

      OR

  • Pass SPM or equivalent
  • Obtained ≥ 3 years clinical work experience
  • Possess Assistant Nurse Certificate OR Community Nurse Certificate
  • Registered with Malaysian Nursing Board (MNB)
  • Possess current Annual Practicing Certificate (APC) for nurses from MNB
International Students:
  • Pass SPM or *equivalent with 5 subject (minimum Grade C) :

i) Credit in Mathematics (Elementary / Additional / Modern)

Either 1 of the credit below :

PROGRAMME DETAILS

This course designed for students with majors/minors in the sciences or related disciplines. This course will provide the student with an in-depth study of the anatomy and physiology (structure and function) of the human body. Both normal and pathological conditions are emphasized.

This course is designed to provide knowledge on Nursing principle and concept. The students develops knowledge, skills and communication in assessing patient using patient assessment and vital sign.

This course is designed to provide knowledge on principles and role in nursing. The student will perform appropriate skill in principles and practice of basic nursing care to meet ADL (activities of daily living) of patient need. The student will use nursing process in caring the patient.

This course enables the students to acquire general knowledge on the types of pathogens (bacteria, fungus, virus and parasites) its characteristics and its effect s in the human body. This is followed by the modes of infection, diagnosis, treatment and control. The practical sessions introduced the students to the principles and practice of diagnostic microbes and parasites.

This course is designed to equip students with foundation skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. Students will be exposed to the strategies in effective listening and speaking; parts of speech, simple tenses, and the structure of 5-paragraph essay focusing on cause-effect genre.

This clinical placement is designed to equip the student with knowledge, skill and attitude to provide basic care nursing care using nursing process.

This course is designed to provide knowledge on Nursing Care Plan and critical thinking. The student will develop Nursing Care Plan using critical thinking, problem solving and decision making to ensure effective nursing care to the patient.

This course is designed to provide knowledge, skills and attitudes in caring for patients with infections and inflammatory disorders, pre and post – operatively providing wound care and care of patient with altered fluid and electrolytes.

This course is designed to provide knowledge, skills and attitudes in pharmacology required for the care of patients on drug therapy. It will ensure the use of correct, appropriate communication skills on drug dosage which can enhance patient compliance to drug therapy.

This course is designed to provide knowledge regarding the psychological development of human being from infancy to old age including personal development, learning and motivation theories and psychological reaction to illness.

This course is designed to equip students with the basics of English language skills and develop communicative competence in spoken and written English, particularly in preparation for tertiary study and employment. Students will learn about verbal communication focusing on Standard People’s Practice. Additionally, students would be able to inculcate values and professionalism and apply problem solving skills in everyday scenarios.

This course is aimed at forming and nurturing students who have knowledge and appreciation of Malaysian history and noble values, in addition to fostering unity and the spirit of love for the country in students.

This clinical exposure is designed to equip the student with knowledge, skill and attitude in provide care for perioperative patient and patient with inflammatory diseases.

This course is designed to provide knowledge, skill and attitude in caring for patients with altered Respiratory function using nursing process integrated with psycho social and communication skills.

This course is designed to acquire knowledge, skills and formulate effective problem solving by using nursing process in cardiovascular nursing practice.

This course is designed to provide knowledge, skill and attitude in caring for patients with altered in Haemopoietic function and Oncology problem using nursing process integrated with psycho social and communication skill

This course is designed to acquire a knowledge, formulate and to perform effective problem solving in communicable and dermatology nursing practice.

This course aims to enable the students to develop a basic understanding of the concepts and applications of a range of communication skills and apply these in an educational context. Students who complete this module will demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively and a range of situations appropriate to their personal, cultural and professional needs.

This course is developed to equip students with reading, writing, and speaking skills in different context for future higher level courses. Students will also learn about writing compare contrast essay and opinion essay. Grammar and vocabulary are also included in this course in order to help students in their writing and speaking.

This clinical placement is designed to equip the student with knowledge, skill and attitude in providing care for perioperative patient and patient with inflammatory disease process.

This course is designed to provide knowledge, skills and attitude for the students to participate and providing care for patients with altered reproductive system and mothers with normal and abnormal on Obstetric conditions.

This course is designed to provide knowledge in caring the individual, families and elderly clients. Practice skills care to assist clients in the community. Communication skill, leadership and teamwork as to prepare the students for their role in community in the primary, secondary and tertiary preventions.

This course is designed for students to acquire knowledge, skills and formulate effective problem solving in managing and the nursing care of patients with alteration of Gastrointestinal system.

This course is designed to provide knowledge regarding the psychological development of human being from infancy to old age including personal development, learning and motivation theories and psychological reaction to illness.

This clinical placement is designed to equip the student with knowledge, skills and attitude in providing care for Gynaecology and Obstetrics Nursing; Community Nursing; Paediatric Nursing and Gastrointestinal Nursing to in clinical practice.

This course is designed to provide knowledge, skills and attitude in caring for patients with altered function in special sense (ear, nose, throat and eye) by using nursing process with integration of psycho social and communication skills.

This course is designed to acquire knowledge, skills and attitude and formulate effective problem solving in order to function professionally and ethically in mental health practice.

This course is designed to provide knowledge, skill and attitude in caring for patients with altered in musculoskeletal systems (Orthopaedic) and neurological function using nursing process integrated with psychosocial and communication skills.

This course is designed for students to acquire knowledge, skills and formulate effective problem solving in nursing care of patients with altered endocrine & genitourinary systems.

This course exposes students to the basic concepts of Islam which is the official religion in Malaysia. Topics in this course also relate the importance and influence of Islam to society in daily life. In addition, students are able to inculcate religious values and appreciation in themselves and train themselves in solving current problems and issues in the Islamic world.

This clinical placement is designed to equip the student with knowledge, skills and attitude to provide nursing care for patients with altered Otorhinolaryngology and Eyes, Mental Health, Neurological and Orthopaedic; Endocrine and Genitourinary systems.

This course is designed to enable the learner to develop an understanding of the knowledge of Emergency Trauma and Burn nursing and apply in clinical practice.

This course is designed to acquire knowledge in research; demonstrate information management skills to assess specific questions for research finding and engage in lifelong learning in improving patient health.

This course is designed for students to acquire knowledge, skills and attitude on the understanding of the theory of management and utilization within nursing roles and practices towards effective nurse leaders and promote professionalism of nursing. The topic is also designed to provide awareness on the personal management of their career prospects

This course introduces the students to contemporary nursing practice in Malaysia in wider global context. Students will explore and analyse history current beliefs and practices which shaped the development of nursing locally and at international level.

This course enables students to enhance their understanding and skill in respective various co-curricular activities in terms of game techniques, rules, ruling and other aspects which are pertinent to the process of learning various soft skills and communication skills. This course also aims to instil discipline among the students through working together in groups and applying it in real life.

This clinical placement is designed to equip the student with knowledge, skill and attitude to provide emergency care for patient. During this clinical exposure the students understand their role and responsibility and care provided during emergencies and disaster. This clinical exposure also help to develop and refine skill to assist them to become effective nurse leader and show professionalism in nursing and increase awareness of how research influence nursing knowledge and practice.
