Physiotherapy is a science-based profession that helps people affected with injury, illness or disability through movement, exercise, manual therapy, and advice to enabling people to remain independent for as long as possible. KPJUC offers you high-quality academic programme and clinical intensive at the KPJ group of Hospitals. You will acquire the knowledge and skills you need to practise as a physiotherapist, using exercise, movement analysis, manual therapy techniques and electro physical modalities in order to restore, improve and promote people health.

The course will prepare you for a wide range of career opportunities, working independently or as part of a team of healthcare professionals. The focus of the early part of the course is on the conditions for which people typically seek physiotherapy care. In the later years you would move to the clinical setting, where your knowledge and skills are put to practice in the delivery of physiotherapy services under the supervision of experienced physiotherapists. This clinical training will be conducted at our 28 KPJ Specialist Hospitals.

Career Opportunity

Physiotherapy is a profession that is highly sought after in Malaysia. Physiotherapists are needed in various places apart from hospitals such as community, nursing homes, senior care centre, special schools, sport team, fitness centre, industrial, private center or private hospitals and government agencies. You may also continue your study to Bachelor of Physiotherapy or Bachelor of Occupational Therapy upon graduation.

Scholarship for Physiotherapy

For 2023, KPJ offers a lot of opportunities for Scholarship in the form of Biasiswa by Merit or Dermasiswa based on Financial Need that reflects our commitment in grooming future professionals and leaders in the healthcare sector. With the combination of PTPTN and our Scholarship, many students may not need to pay any tuition or fee during their studies and instead will receive Pocket Money of RM200 per month while you are on campus, plus hostel accommodation for the whole duration of 3 years of your study which is readily included in the tuition and fee. Please refer the following Table for an indication of how much you will actually need to pay or will receive for your study. This calculation is based on the condition that you, like almost all our present students, are approved and receive PTPTN to pay for your tuition and fee. We would help you to apply for PTPTN during your orientation week.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENT

Malaysian students:

SPM or equivalent with PASS in Bahasa Malaysia and English and 5 credits in the following subjects:

  • Mathematics;
  • ONE science subject (Biology/Physics/Chemistry/General Science/Applied Science); AND
  • Any other THREE subjects (including Bahasa Malaysia and/or English).

      OR

  1. ii) GCE/O Level or equivalent with PASS in Bahasa Malaysia or English and 5 Grade C in the following subjects:
  • Mathematics;
  • ONE science subject

(Biology/Physics/Chemistry/General Science/Applied Science);  AND

  • Any other THREE subjects (including Bahasa Malaysia and/or English). OR
  • Certificate related to Health Sciences with minimum CGPA 2.75

International Students:
Similar as Malaysian candidate, AND must possess IELTS ≥ 5.5 or TOEFL ≥ 550 or equivalent.

PROGRAMME DETAILS

This course is designed to equip students with foundation skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. Students will be exposed to the strategies in effective listening and speaking; parts of speech, simple tenses, and the structure of 5-paragraph essay focusing on cause-effect genre.

This course is designed to enable students to study the living human body and use the knowledge functionally for greater understanding of the mechanism that allow body movement to take place

Kursus ini membincangkan Sejarah dan Politik, Perlembagaan Malaysia, Sistem dan Struktur Pentadbiran Negara, Kemasyarakatan dan Perpaduan dan Pembangunan Negara dan Agama Kepercayaan. Kursus ini adalah bertujuan untuk melahirkan graduan yang mempunyai identiti kebangsaan dan semangat patriotisme yang unggul. Pengajaran dan pembelajaran akan dilaksanakan dalam bentuk kuliah, tugasan, peperiksaan dan pengalaman pembelajaran.

This course is designed to introduce and also provide an understanding of the physiological, therapeutic effects and indication of electrotherapeutic modalities. The students will learn to carry out application techniques using electrotherapeutics modalities such as thermal therapy and electrical stimulation.

This course is designed to enable students to understand relationship between lesions and symptoms and signs of illness. They should be able to understand the pathogenesis of illness and diagnosis. Emphasis is given to the use of basic principles of pathology to understand the reasons for diagnosis and treatment of illness

The course content focuses on basic information on the skeletal, articular, muscular, and nervous systems and basic biomechanics on upper limb . The chapters on extremities include joints and their motions, bony landmarks, ligaments and other pertinent structures, muscles, and summaries of muscle actions and muscle innervations on upper limb

This course is designed to enable the student to understand about the emphasis of identifying patient problems through skillful evaluation, establishing realistic goals based on the problems and then deciding on a plan of care to meet the goals.

This course is designed to equip students with the basics of English language skills and develop communicative competence in spoken and written English, particularly in preparation for tertiary study and employment. Students will learn about verbal communication focusing on Standard People’s Practice. Additionally, students would be able to inculcate values and professionalism and apply problem solving skills in everyday scenarios.

This course is designed for students with majors/minors in the science of related disciplines. This course will provide the students with an in-depth study of the anatomy of the human body. Both normal and pathological conditions are emphasized

This course introduces students to psychological theories and principles in areas pertaining to health and well-being. It also examines the theoretical and empirical contributions of psychology to the promotion and maintenance of health and the prevention and treatment of illness. Major stages of human development are also emphasized in relation to the general well-being.

Korea Language Programme is a programme to create graduates that have the basic capability speaking in Korean Language. It also will teach the student to gain whatever positive input from Korea culture, habit and behaviour from learning their culture and history. Korean have better expression in communication which will help student to learn to express better in communicating with patient in future.

The content is designed to enhance knowledge in electrotherapy modalities medium frequency current modalities such as ultrasound, LASER, Ultraviolet ray and SWD on the physiological effects, therapeutic effects, indications and contraindications.

They learn about the health promotion and entrepreneurial skills in order to identify business opportunity related to healthcare.
