NEONATAL RESUSCITATION PROGRAMME (NRP)
Programme Overview
This course is an educational program that introduces the concepts and basic skills of neonatal resuscitation. It has been designed for health care professionals involved in any aspect of neonatal resuscitation, including physicians, State Certified Midwives, State Registered Nurses, and other healthcare professionals who provide direct care during neonatal resuscitation. The course will be conducted in collaboration with Perinatal Society of Malaysia, using the Textbook of Neonatal Resuscitation, 7th Edition, a book published by the American Academy of Paediatrics and American Heart Association.
Who Should Attend
- Healthcare professionals involved in the care of newborns requiring immediate resuscitation at birth.
- Doctors, nurses and midwives working in delivery suites, neonatal units or emergency settings.
- Clinical staff seeking to strengthen their knowledge and practical skills in neonatal resuscitation techniques.
- Allied health professionals and trainees who are part of perinatal and newborn care teams, and are responsible for ensuring safe and effective responses during neonatal emergencies.

Learning outcome

Demonstrate mastery of cognitive knowledge of NRP concepts and interventions prior to the hands-on portion of the course.

Support the goals and purpose of NRP Provider status.

Practice and demonstrate critical components of newborn resuscitation and demonstrate skills in correct sequence according to the NRP flow diagram to optimise neonatal outcome.

Demonstrate NRP knowledge, skills, and teamwork, which may reduce neonatal morbidity and mortality, by participating in simulated newborn resuscitation.
