About Assoc. Prof. Dr Faizah is a dedicated teacher and a Registered Pharmacist by profession. With her passion for research, she constantly strives to expand her knowledge and become a well-rounded scholar. She was awarded the Japanese Government scholarship for her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Kyoto University, Japan. During her tenure at the University of Malaya from 2000 to 2016, Dr Faizah pursued her PhD in Pharmaco/Health Informatics at Universiti Sains Malaysia. Her research interests lie in laboratory and social science studies related to pharmaceutical sciences and healthcare. She has successfully obtained grants and funding for collaborative projects with government agencies, industries, and community organizations. One such project was a smoking cessation program focused on health informatics. Dr Faizah made history as the first principal investigator from KPJ University to be awarded the prestigious Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS) by the Ministry of Higher Education in 2018. Additionally, she served as a co-researcher for a project that received the Prototype Research Grant Scheme (PRGS) in 2020. With over twenty years of professional experience in academia and research, Dr Faizah specializes in content development and validation, consumer health informatics, research methodology, and data analysis. She actively publishes scientific articles and serves as a reviewer for various journals. Her contributions can be found on Google Scholar under “Faizah Safina Bakrin” and Web of Science (ID: GQP-8775-2022). Dr Faizah has led several ICT projects, including the development of mobile apps related to diet management (Calorie Traffic), stroke rehabilitation (STREAM), and smoking cessation (Why Test). In recognition of her team’s efforts, they received third place for their project titled “A Mobile App for Malaysian Adolescent Education in Managing Daily Diet and Physical Activity: A Priori Themes Approach of Primary Content Development” at the Telemedicine Innovation Challenge during The First Malaysian Telemedicine Conference: Policy, Innovation & Research in 2015. She is frequently invited to speak and facilitate discussions on various topics in her field of expertise. For that reason, she has been accredited as a Human Resource Development (HRD) Corp trainer with exemption from the Train-The-Trainer (TTT) certification course. Currently, Dr Faizah is exploring Artificial Intelligence platforms and software to further her interest in epidemiology. For her professional journey, Dr Faizah holds on to her belief from these ayats: “For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease…Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease…So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship].
